Since its inception in 1981, Metrod has strived to be the market leader for Oxygen Free High Conductivity (OFHC) copper rods, wire and strips.

It all started in 1981 with a 15,000 MT UPCAST plant casting 20mm rod. Since then Metrod has steadily grown both in volume and its product range:

1984 Commenced production of drawn copper wire

1986 Commenced production of tin can welding wire

1991 Expansion to 40,000 MT rod and wire capacity

1994 Expansion to 85,000 MT rod capacity with DIP Form Technology

1995 Production of copper strips through Continuous extrusion process

1997 Expansion of rod capacity to 105,000 MT/year.

MetMetrod is today the second largest manufacturer in the world for Oxygen Free High Conductivity copper rods, wire and strips.

MorMore than 50% of our rod is used for Quality Demanding magnet wire application. Our customers draw our rod up to ultra super-fine size of 30 microns. Our Dip rod does not need shaving as is required for other technologies for drawing to ultra super-fine sizes.
